Welcome to the site for MathLion Software
This right now is still being setup but eventually will be used for me to post development/social media/work related blog posts. It will also be a place to get any code samples I create and post, as well as any software I release.
I have been a software developer for over 10 years. I started back in VB5 and ASP, and have made the transition to the various versions of .Net 1.0/2.0/3.0/3.5 and now 4.0, over the years. I am currently doing WinForms, .Net business logic libraries, and starting on WPF client development as well. Most of my work has been using VB and VB.net but use C# on side hobby projects, as well as converting from C# from samples online for learning new things. Lately I have moved to programming in C# and quickly got used to thinking in C# over VB.net
Currently I am focusing, trying to find time to work on, a podcatcher client in WPF as a hobby project, because the current one I use and love has not been actively developed for years, and has bugs. I also maintain www.disneypodcastdirectory.net as part of my interest in Disney and podcasting.
I am also a big social media fan, and am looking to incorporate that into future projects, both work related and just for fun stuff. I am available for consulting on using Social Media by and for SMB (small – medium business) as well as building custom software for SMB.
This site is done in WordPress so that I could learn the features of the software, as well as to learn setup, configuration, and using the powerful system. I will also may be hacking away at the code to learn PHP, and maybe even try writing a Plugin for it (if I find a need that hasn’t been covered yet).
I have also taken a scary (for me) step of public speaking. I did a presentation for a local user group, that went good, for a first time presenter (I think). It was a little, well a LOT short, as I was afraid to put too much into it, and ended up with not putting enough into it. The code and slides for that are available on the blog. I am planning on trying to continue this and also get more involved in local user groups more than just attending.
And come Monday 3/28/2011 I will be starting a new challenge in my day job and taking a position at company I have been impressed with the work they do as well as the number of their employees locally I see giving presentations at local Code Camps. I am really looking forward to this challenge and learning many new skills and trying to share those skills with other through presenting at user groups and over events.
